From bad to worse
Another story from the Guardian's Patrick Butler details more fallout from A4e's situation. A contract awarded to the Foundation for Social Improvement, a charity set up and largely funded by A4e, has been withdrawn. Richmond council gave the £85,000 contract to the FSI for charity business skills training, but has now decided to pull out, citing the potential risks of giving a contract to an organisation so dependent financially on a company now under investigation. Butler hints that it was odd that the FSI got the contract in the first place, given that it had assets of less than £9,000 in its latest accounts. Well done to Richmond's Lib Dem leader on the council, Stephen Knight, for raising concerns.
Glad to see some people are seeing this scheme for the total farce it really is.I wonder if all the other cowboy outfits will be investgated.

ReplyDeleteDid this really happen
No idea, but I'm disabled and A4E aren't interested, probably because I don't have a motorised wheelchair (yet).
DeleteIt'll be interesting to see if they provide these new disabled staff with computer aids if they need them, because they couldn't be bothered to provide me with them when I was on the ND, and now I'm on the WP they still don't have them.

ReplyDeleteYesterday a4e published on their website quite a lengthy article entitled "a4e The Facts Behind The Coverage. Are they really such an exemplary provider that they make themselves out to be? Rhetorical question of course

Has anybody had the following said to them by their work programme "advisor"? " my work does not end here, when im at home im looking for my clients sometimes untill late, or the "well even a part time job is a step into the job market, it could lead to a full time job by being in a job!, or...."the jobs are out there you just have to look for them, or i think you need experience to get you back into the job market, translation you will work for nothing via are partners ie morrisons/asda etc we get a back hander, the company gets free work for a while. you get f..k all.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comments, i'm a customer, what jobs can they offer you, none, only voluntary jobs, i do voluntary work myself, looking and applying for jobs myself every day. I think, when you have an appointment to see your advisor, they should be able to tell you of any vacancies there is according to your criteria, what you have not seen, all they can offer is training, which i attend, or gaining experience - voluntary, don't get me wrong, everyone at the place i go is friendly, but then, that just keeps them in jobs. I've asked, do you know of any paid jobs that's hot off the press, have you looked on the job board? there was only 5, that's up to you, we do training! or do you think you to need to gain experiene.
