'Results' cannot be gained (and paid for) by the contractor (here, A4e) if the contracting party (here HMPS) is unable to provide the conditions that will enable for results to be achieved (here, learners in classrooms and getting exam qualifications).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6941116624675227992.post-11198014841397057452014-08-14T14:49:06.620-07:002014-08-14T14:49:06.620-07:00I'm guessing too, but I can only think of one ...I'm guessing too, but I can only think of one highly controversial outsourcing contract in the pipeline.historianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11922746528891041071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6941116624675227992.post-91245259375675889282014-08-14T14:45:54.421-07:002014-08-14T14:45:54.421-07:00Which tender is that? Just as an example of a conversation I had recently.. you can have a Manchester prison officer in Norfolk to support a prison in Norfolk when at the same time you can have a colleague from Norfolk in Manchester. You have staff shortage in almost every prison and talks are all about "we know we are struggling but how can we support other prisons?". Senseless behaviour by people who have been left with no choice but to stretch themselves risking their safety and the people they are supposed to protected.
When companies depending on the number of prisoners attending the services they provide to get paid are left with a few service users because prisons don't have enough staff everyone suffers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6941116624675227992.post-6797955365703398772014-08-13T21:37:32.823-07:002014-08-13T21:37:32.823-07:00FWIW, I suspect that only the largest of the outso...FWIW, I suspect that only the largest of the outsourcing companies (eg G4S, Capita etc)
can afford to absorb the financial losses forced on the companies by the present government’s errors A4E is not large enough to absorb whopping losses. If they cannot make a profit they quickly disappear, proving that they have no concern for the welfare of the people they are supposed to help but only for the interests of their greedy, selfish shareholders. I wonder what opportunities for employment with A4e there might be now? In recent months I had noticed that a large percentage of jobs working for A4e were actually tutor positions in prisons. Anyone who took up one of those prison tutoring jobs will now be facing unemployment- I just hope they don't end up on the Work Programme with A4e because that would really be rubbing salt into the wound.Sick of the Work Programmenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6941116624675227992.post-76422757345490039122014-08-13T01:44:58.413-07:002014-08-13T01:44:58.413-07:00Yet another example of profit first, people (a lon...Yet another example of profit first, people (a long way) second.
